Ghost Lector LC 5 2016
The all-new Ghost Lector 5 is finally available to the public! The Lector has been seen under Ghost’s elite XC riders in its camouflage guise at numerous world-cup XC races. Feedback from the riders has allowed the Ghost Lector to be finely honed into the ultimate race machine you see here; allowing you to ride like the pro’s.
The outgoing ‘HTX’ has had huge success with world-cup, world champs, and Olympic titles to its name, and the Lector has been greatly inspired by the HTX, yet is still distinctly different. The 69.5-deg head angle is relatively slack for a race bike, but has proven to be right due to the increasingly technical terrain found on XC race circuits. 430mm chainstay’s balance cornering ability with stability. Every aspect of the bike’s geometry aims to perfectly balance efficiency with stability.
One simple but important feature is the 31.6mm seatpost. Unlike the HTX the Lector has a large enough seat-tube to accommodate dropper-seatpost’s, which allow a rider to ride more dynamically on descents by moving the saddle out of the way. The carbon frame also features the ‘Riot’ style headtube, full internal cable-routing, and on ULC models Ghost’s innovative ‘disconnect’ brake mount, which reduces the strain of braking forces on the frame.
Specification (Lector 5)
The Ghost Lector 5 is one stealthy machine! At 10.3kg it’s certainly light, in fact its 200g lighter than the next model up the ‘6’, although that’s primarily due to the 1x11 rather than 2x11 drivetrain. Many of the Ghost lector 5’s components are from Sram, meaning they compliment each other perfectly. The gears are Sram’s brand new GX1 1x11 groupset. This highly anticipated groupset brings XX1 style performance to the masses and has already seen great reviews. The 10-42t cassette has a huge range, meaning the single chainring is up to the job! A custom wheelset is laced with Schwalbe’s Rocket Ron tyres which are popular amongst XC racers, as they provide stronger grip than the Racing Ralph but still roll with little resistance. Sram Guide R brakes are powerful units, more than up to the job. Sram’s Rockshox division provides the Reba RL fork. The Reba has much in common with the more expensive Sid, it’s very light and uses sophisticated motion control air damping. The cockpit uses Ghost’s own light, functional alloy parts, including a relatively wide (for XC) 720mm handlebar. The SDG saddle is a premium cherry on top of the cake, it’s a light, sleek saddle that’s perfect for long days or hard efforts.
